Manitoba RCMP To Probe Potential Grave Sites At A Former Residential School

After a private contractor detected 6 anomalies beneath a church that sits on the site of a former residential school on Manitoba’s Pine Creek First Nation using ground-penetrating radar, the RCMP have been called in. RCMP say officers met with the chief, councilors and elders to discuss concerns about possible crimes related to the anomalies after survivors spoke of abuses that occurred in the basement of the church. Mounties say the investigation will include multiple phases, with the first to focus on speaking with witnesses, including elders and community members.
