Melville and area residents still have time to nominate someone for the Queen Elizabeth the Second Platinum Jubilee medal.
Nomination forms are available online on the Saskatchewan government website, and the City of Melville has been allocated 10 medals.
Mayor Walter Streelasky encourages people to nominate a person.
“What it takes to have a community is people willing to give of themselves, and there are in this community, I’m very proud to say many, that give fully of themselves.” said Streelasky.
It’s a simple criteria to nominate someone – anyone who is a Saskatchewan resident or has a link to the province, was alive on February 6, 2022, the 70th anniversary of Her Majesty’s Accession to the Throne, and has made a contribution to Canada, Saskatchewan, or to a particular region or community.
People have until October 31 to submit a nomination form, and for people in Melville, forms can be sent to the constituency office of Melville-Saltcoats MLA Warren Kaeding at 317 Main Street or to City Hall at 430 Main Street.
A total of 7-thousand medals will be handed out during the Platinum Jubilee year which ends on February 5.
