The cause of Monday’s fatal house fire in Birch River remains under investigation, but Swan River RCMP provided an update on the case.
They say the human remains found after the blaze was extinguished have been identified as a 68-year-old man from Birch River, and are now investigating this as a homicide.
RCMP also charged 21-year-old Lincoln Chartrand-Flett, of Birch River, with 2nd Degree Murder, in connection to the victim’s death.
The accused has been remanded into custody for a court appearance in Dauphin on October 25th.
