Indigenous hunters in western Manitoba are permitted to hunt moose in Duck and Porcupine Mountains, on a limited interim tag basis. Since 2011, the province closed all moose hunting in the mountains due to a declining moose population. Biological surveys over the last five years show that the moose population has grown in Duck Mountain and remain stable in Porcupine Mountain. All hunters taking part in this opportunity are reminded to carry moose hunting authorization provided by the province.
