Manitoba’s police watchdog completed its investigation into circumstances around a serious injury allegedly sustained during an RCMP arrest in the R.M. of Dauphin.
A man filed a complaint to the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission March 30th, 2022 and the RCMP reported the incident to the Independent Investigation Unit the following day.
The man claimed he sustained broken ribs as a result of the incident on July 29th, 2020.
The I-I-U interviewed the affected person and also reviewed the officers’ notes and reports, and a police vehicle video recording, among other things. They also designated the arresting officer as the subject officer, and 3 RCMP members as witness officers.
The I-I-U found no evidence to justify charges against the officer in question.
