Statistics Canada numbers for the month of September show Saskatchewan had a 49.5-percent increase in wholesale trade, the highest among the provinces.
The province’s year-over-year manufacturing sales rose 24.1-percent, ranking 3rd among provinces.
Saskatchewan’s wholesale trade value in September this year was up $1.4-billion compared to the same time last year.
The value of building construction in September increased by 56.2-percent, and merchandise exports up by 45-percent.
The province’s unemployment rate is 4.6-percent, below the seasonally-adjusted national average of 5.2-percent.
In a news release, Trade and Export Development Minister Jeremy Harrison touted the numbers are “further proof that our province is open for business” adding “more people are working and doing business in our province than ever before.
