More child care spaces will be added in Saskatchewan.
The provincial and federal governments announced $28.9-million to develop nearly 22-hundred new spaces across the province, as part of the 5-year, $1.1-billion Early Learning and Child Care Agreement signed last August.
Education Minister Dustin Duncan says this expansion of child care is important to Saskatchewan families.
Nearly 16-hundred of the new spaces are allocated to specific organizations who will either build new facilities or add new spaces within their existing facilities. The remaining 598 will be allocated through an application process.
Locally, the Town of Carlyle is getting 30 new child care spaces; the Chief Red Bear Children’s Lodge at Cowessess First Nation 40 new spaces; the Little Castle Childcare Centre in Indian Head 34 new spaces; the Langenburg and District Daycare Cooperative 20 new spaces; New Beginnings Child Care in Melville 51 new spaces; Southey Child Care Centre 30 new spaces; and Kids on Broadway in Yorkton 28 new spaces.
