Good news of sorts for Manitoba Hydro customers. The Crown power company has cut its rate hike request from 3.5 to 2% in each of the next 2 years. They also hope to hold future annual increases above the rate of inflation to rate hikes of two per cent a year for the next 19 years. Hydro also says the Manitoba government’s decision to reduce fees charged to the utility for debt guarantees and water usage will save it about 190-million dollars this year.
