In June, the Town of Foam Lake banded together to clean up the aftermath of a tornado that its Mayor said left “a path of destruction.”
The town itself was okay, but a farmyard 2 kilometres west of Foam Lake was directly in the tornado’s path, damaging grain bins, a shed, trees, and equipment. The family was okay.
Foam Lake Mayor Shelly Thoen-Chaykoski says it was at the end of a nice hot and humid day when the tornado came, describing the experience as “quite frightening” seeing it come that close so quickly.
She says the response from local emergency crews was nothing short of amazing, adding community members checked on one another and helped out where needed.
