Low Cost Towing in Swift Current says one of its operators was injured and one of their heavy duty tow trucks was damaged while trying to tow a semi that hit the ditch after rain turned to ice on the Trans Canada last night.
The company says while their operator was working on their truck another semi hit their wrecker and the truck he was assisting.
They say the operator is recovering with his family at his side and that, “Our tow family is shaken and can’t understand how this could happen.”
Low Cost Towing, in a social media post says slowing to 60 kilometres per hour and moving over when approaching a tow truck with all their blue and amber lights on is the law.
Road conditions were extreme and they say this semi unit was travelling too fast for conditions. The company says visibility was not an issue and the accidents could be seen for miles and – it should have never happened.
