Investigation into a 29-year-old man’s death after an interaction with RCMP underway

Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit is investigating the death of a 29-year-old man, following an interaction with Ste. Rose RCMP.

Last Friday (Jan. 6) Mounties reported an incident from January 5 to the I-I-U.

On December 30, RCMP located a vehicle, containing 4 people, in a ditch, on Provincial Road 481, south of Crane River, where 3 of the individuals were arrested, while the 4th fled the scene.

On January 4, RCMP received a missing person report for the individual who fled the scene, but were unable to locate him after conducting patrols.

The following day, officers went to the last known location of the individual on Provincial Road 481, and found the man deceased in the woods, and it’s believed the individual may have suffered from hypothermia.

A release says a request for a civilian monitor will be made to the Manitoba Police Commission, since the matter involves a fatality.
