A ceremony to honour 51 people from the Melville-Saltcoats constituncy who received a Queen Elizabeth the Second Platinum Jubilee medal, was held at the Horizon Credit Union Centre.

One of the recipients was Melville Mayor Walter Streelasky who was pleased to see the community come together to honour everyone.

Another recipient, MP for Yorkton-Melville Cathay Wagantall was one the recipients of the award, and she notes that receiving a medal was difficult to put into words.

MLA Warren Kaeding was proud to see everyone receive their award, calling it a small snapshot of the volunteer efforts by the people in the area.

51 residents received the medals for making a significant contribution to society in their communities.
