One day after Sunwing announced the cancellation of most its flights out of Regina for the remainder of the winter season, it is reducing its flight schedule out of Saskatoon.
When making the Regina announcement Sunwing told customers they could transfer their vacations to flights out of another Canadian airport including Saskatoon.
Jamie Milton with Uniglobe Carefree Travel Group says flights to Puerto Vallarta on Sundays will be cancelled beginning February 5th but those are the flights that are being maintained out of Regina.
She says they have had no formal communication from Sunwing, but they believe they are losing five of Sunwing weekly flights while keeping three of them.
“Which will still provide options for some people to go back and forth between Saskatoon and Regina where possible, to get rebooked. But there will be some absolute implications to Saskatchewan people and some people will simply be cancelled without having a lot of options available to them.”
Milton says their understanding right now is that cancellations include to Puerto Vallarta on Sundays beginning February 5, Los Cabos on Thursdays beginning February 9, and Mazatlan on Fridays beginning February 10. Scheduled Family Day weekend departures to Mazatlan on February 17 will proceed as planned.
She says if you booked through Uniglobe, contact their office to see what options are available for rebooking and if you booked direct through Sunwing your only option is to contact the company directly. She suggests the time to call them, for the least wait, is late in the evening or early morning.
