No jail time for a man, who admitted to setting the oldest house in Russell on fire.

24-year-old Liam Flett of Russell received a conditional sentence of one year in Russell Court yesterday (WED).

In January of 2021, RCMP were called to the scene on Pelly Avenue, where firefighters were battling a blaze that had fully engulfed the structure, built in 1888.

About two hours later, a call came in to 9-1-1, in which a man said he started the fire, gave his location, and was found with a container of what was believed to be gasoline.
