Three people charged in connection to assaults, barricaded standoff at Sapotaweyak Cree Nation

Charges have been laid against 3 people, in connection to alleged assaults and a barricaded standoff.

On Friday (Feb. 10), Swan River RCMP were advised that three men, ages 29, 42, and 50, were assaulted, and the 29-year-old went to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

That evening, while searching for the suspects, RCMP received a report of unwanted guests, who were armed with machetes and knives, refusing to leave a home on the Sapotaweyak Cree Nation.

After several hours, the suspects surrendered and were taken into custody without incident.

18-year-old Santana Genaille, 22-year-old Chandler Cook and 27-year-old Scott Cook are charged with numerous offences, including assault, with Genaille set to appear in Winnipeg court March 15th.
