Free fishing weekend on in Saskatchewan and Manitoba

Residents in Manitoba will be able to fish for free this Family Day weekend.

Until Monday, anglers may fish without a fishing license, except in national parks where a federal angling license is still required.

Regular limits will still apply, as well as all Manitoba fishing regulations.

For information on all provincial angling regulations, refer to the 2022 Manitoba Anglers’ Guide at www.manitobafisheries.com.

It’s also free fishing weekend in Saskatchewan.

Like Manitoba, anglers in Saskatchewan can try ice fishing without the need for a fishing licence.

Some regulations will remain in effect, such as possession limits, and anyone planning to transport fish out of province must have a license.

Also keep in mind that Free Fishing Weekend does not apply to national parks within Saskatchewan.

SaskParks also reminds residents to keep safety in mind, as fishers need at least ten centimetres of ice to walk safely, and 30 centimetres of good ice to travel in a light vehicle.
