The Manitoba government has announced an additional 47 million dollars in unconditional funding, to help municipalities deliver needed projects and services in the 2023 fiscal year.
This year, all municipalities will see a minimum 24 per cent increase in funding, to deal with inflation, with provincial operating grants growing to 217 million dollars in 2023.
Of the new funding, 29.7 million dollars is earmarked for the City of Winnipeg, while Brandon will receive over 2.3 million dollars.
With the current financial challenges, the province says smaller rural and northern municipalities will see a new guaranteed base grant of $25,000, along with a range of increases.
