The Saskatchewan Government has declared this week as Social Work Week with this year’s theme “Social Work is Essential”.

Social Services Minister Gene Makowsky says in a news release that social workers do “essential, live-changing work in our province every day as they address complex issues facing individuals, families and communities.”

There are more than 25-hundred social workers currently registered in the province, according to the provincial government.

Social Workers Week is on until Saturday.
