SaskPower is adjusting its demand charges, in order to provide relief for customers that use power on a seasonal basis, such as farmers, ice rinks, campgrounds and ski hills.
Effective May 1st, SaskPower will reduce the time period used to calculate minimum demand charges from 11 months to six months, for eligible seasonal farm and commercial customers.
This adjustment means that when calculating those customers’ monthly offseason charges, resetting the minimum demand period in May and November means the customer’s peak power usage periods won’t be factored in, when setting their offseason monthly charges.
It’s expected that this will benefit about 1,400 customer accounts, providing an annual savings of around $1,140 on average.
