The new gas-fired electricity plants being built by SaskPower has sparked some backlash from a group of climate-conscious Saskatchewan citizens.
A group of people ages 15-80 have come together to challenge the Saskatchewan Power Corporation, Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan, and the Government of Saskatchewan in court over the plant being built in Moose Jaw, and one being planned in Lanigan.
The applicants believe that the government action to expand gas-fired electricity generation violates their Charter right to life, security of person, and equality.
The group is making their first court appearance on May 4th.
