In order to further facilitate opportunities for producers in overseas markets, Saskatchewan is looking at developing a commercial-scale helium liquefier.
Currently, Saskatchewan sends its helium to Colorado to be liquified.
Helium is one of Canada’s 31 criticial minerals and is used in a variety of scientific, medical and technological applications, such as cooling conducting magnets in MRI machines.
The province hopes that by 2030, it will be able to produce 10-percent of the world’s helium supply.
