Saskatchewan’s first crop report of the 2023 growing season released

Saskatchewan farmers are generally behind in their spring seeding operations.

The first crop report of the year says nine percent of the crop has been seeded, well behind the five-year average of 23 percent.

Seeding is furthest advanced in the southwest, west-central and northwest regions.

Seeding progress is slower in the eastern regions, where snowfall was heavier, and water in fields is taking longer to disappear.
