There will be a new MLA for Yorkton at the next provincial election as Greg Ottenbreit announced his retirement from politics.
Ottenbreit notes it wasn’t a decision made lightly, but rather one he made with his wife when he first entered politics, saying he would only run for four terms.
Ottenbreit is proud of being able to advocate for his constituency and seeing improvements to infrastructure and housing, the revitalization of the Yorkton Regional High School, and the push for a new hospital in Yorkton.
He states the one thing he will miss the most are his colleagues, saying they are all friendly, friends and some as close as family.
Ottenbreit was first nominated in 2005 and spent 16 years as an elected official.
