Dauphin Man Found Breaching Conditions Arrested

A 37-year-old Dauphin man is in custody, after a traffic stop in the city, led to the seizure of a homemade firearm.

Around 10:40 last night, Mounties spotted a vehicle speeding northbound on Main Street, and pulled it over, finding two men inside, along with strong smell of alcohol, and the driver failed a roadside sobriety test.

Police found a large bag of unmarked cigarettes, along with a homemade gun with a bayonet attached, used and unused ammunition, several cell phones, and cash.

The driver, Christopher Bilay, was found to be on parole for numerous drug-related charges, was breaching several release conditions, and he was subsequently charged with numerous offences including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm.
