Arrest made in connection with weekend murder in Esterhazy area

RCMP have made an arrest in connection with a death in the Calder area over the weekend.

On Sunday (June 18), Esterhazy RCMP received a request to conduct a wellness check on a man at a rural residence, and upon arrival, they found a deceased man inside the home, who has since been identified as 61-year-old Bentley Baumung, of Calder.

Yesterday (MON), in Russell, Manitoba, 48-year-old Curtis Sokoloski of Calder was arrested, and charged with Second Degree Murder and Indignity to a Body.

He made his first appearance in Yorkton Provincial Court this (TUES) morning and remains in custody, to appear again next Monday (June 26).
