The SGI traffic safety spotlight for May was once again on impaired driving, but this time with a focus on day drinking.
Spokesperson Tyler McMurchy notes that impaired driving can and does happen at anytime of the day, as does impaired driving enforcement.
476 people were caught driving impaired in May with 206 criminal code charges and 270 administrative suspensions for exceeding provincial limits.
Police also handed out 841 distracted driving tickets, 490 tickets for seatbelt infractions and 5-thousand 338 tickets for speeding and aggressive driving.
