Jail time for a Redvers man facing child pornography charges.

In January, 48-year-old Vernon Zelionka pled guilty to Possession of Child Pornography, and yesterday (WED) in Carlyle, he received one year in prison, to be followed by three years probation.

As well, for six years, he must avoid places where children under 16 gather, he must provide a DNA sample, and he will be added to the Sex Offender Registry for 20 years.

A charge of Accessing Child Pornography was stayed by the Crown.

Police began an investigation in August of 2020, into the accessing of child pornography through file sharing networks.

In October of 2020, they searched a home in Redvers, where child pornography was located, and two computers and a mobile phone were seized for further analysis.
