Tony Sparvier hit a 3 run home-run to take the lead then struck out the side in the 7th to help the Grenfell Gems beat the Wynyard Blues 7-6 to capture the 2023 Softball Saskatchewan Men’s Open Fastball championships in Earl Grey.

Grenfell beat the Saskatoon Merchants and the Blues slipped by the host Rockets to advance to the championship final.

The Rhein Rockets and the Neudorf Posse were the other local teams competing in the event.
