A guilty verdict in the trial of a San Clara man, accused of striking a Roblin RCMP officer with his vehicle.
Yesterday in Roblin, 32-year-old Matthew Paul was found guilty of Assaulting a Peace Officer with a Weapon, but acquitted of the other charges against him.
Paul was given six months of supervised probation, a one-thousand-dollar fine, and he must provide a DNA sample.
In July of 2022, an RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop at a campground on Highway 83 in Roblin, in which he told the driver that the vehicle would be towed, because it wasn’t registered.
The suspect then allegedly got into the vehicle, reversed at a high rate of speed, and struck the officer, before leaving the scene.
