One of two Hamilton, Ontario men arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 1 east of Indian Head, that resulted in a significant seizure of illegal cigarettes, is off the hook.

Last month, the charges against 35-year-old Berj Antraneek were stayed by the Crown Prosecutor.

34-year-old Sargon Jahn is committed to stand trial in Regina Court of King’s Bench, and he’ll make another pretrial appearance on March 15th.

In November of 2022, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers pulled over a semi unit, and a search turned up 18 pallets, each containing 30 boxes of unstamped tobacco.

Ultimately, officers seized about 5.4 million cigarettes, and over 13-hundred kilograms of shisha tobacco.
