An update in the case of a Hamilton, Ontario man arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 1 east of Indian Head, that resulted in a significant seizure of illegal cigarettes.

In November of 2022, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers pulled over a semi unit, and a search turned up 18 pallets, each containing 30 boxes of unstamped tobacco.

In all, officers seized about 5.4 million cigarettes, and over 13-hundred kilograms of shisha tobacco.

35-year-old Sargon Jahn is committed to stand trial in Regina Court of King’s Bench, and he’ll make his next pretrial appearance on April 19.

In January, the charges against 36-year-old Berj Antraneek were stayed by the Crown Prosecutor.
