The Saskatchewan Workers’ Compensation Board (WCB) has reported a landmark achievement in workplace safety for 2023, with the Total injury rate dropping to 3.95 per 100 workers, a nine per cent decrease from the previous year, marking the lowest rate in the province’s history.
Gord Dobrowolsky, Chair of the WCB, credited collaborative efforts for this milestone, while emphasizing the ongoing importance of prioritizing safety. Despite progress, 29 workplace fatalities occurred, underscoring the need for continued vigilance.
The report also highlighted a decrease in Total claims accepted and the launch of the 2023-2028 Fatalities and Serious Injuries Strategy, aiming to further enhance workplace safety through cooperation and data-driven initiatives.
