Man Sentenced to Prison for Manslaughter on Skownan First Nation

It’s prison time for a man who admitted to Manslaughter on the Skownan First Nation.

47-year-old Melvin Catcheway was in Dauphin Court Friday, where he was sentenced to four and a half years behind bars, but with the time he’s already served, he only had 936 days left.

In January of last year, Winnipegosis RCMP were called to the reserve on a report of an assault.

When they arrive at the home, they located a 68-year-old man, dead at the scene.
