Reader here, and we’re off and running on Day Two of the “Airwaves For Health Radiothon” on Fox FM, and our sister station, GX94.
As a reminder, we’re once against joining forces with the Health Foundation of East Central Saskatchewan, to raise money for the purchase of needed medical equipment.
This year, the fundraising will assist on two fronts: for the purchase of medical equipment for the Yorkton Regional Health Centre, as well as equipment for Suncrest College’s new sonography program, to train ultrasound technicians locally.
Creating educational opportunities for this particular field in East Central Saskatchewan is huge, as there is currently a shortage of ultrasound technicians in the province.
Day One of the Radiothon was a huge success.

Cornerstone Credit Union CEO Doug Jones kickstarted Day Two, with a major donation!
Some other generous corporate donations came in through the morning, as well.
General Manager Terry Tyson made a $10,000 donation on behalf of Grain Millers.
CPKC Railway Superintendent for Saskatchewan, Brad McKeown made a $15,000 presentation, while Jordon Clouthier, District manager with PCL Construction made a $2,500 donation on behalf of the company.
As well, we were joined by some other special guests, including Suncrest College President Alison Dubreuil, who spoke to the ongoing relationship between the college and the Health Foundation, including the work to get the sonography program up and running.
And medical professionals, including Lab Supervisor Amanda Montgomery lent some insight into the medical equipment purchased by the Health Foundation, and how it’s used.
And DJ Gabriel, who is the ICU and Emergency Clinical Coordinator discussed how the equipment purchased through the Health Foundation assists both patients and staff.
Day Two of the “Airwaves For Health” Radiothon is shaping up to be a great success, and I can’t wait to see the total!

Stop by McDonald’s and get a cold beverage (cold brew, Smoothies, ice coffee and Shakes, but NOT pop!), and 10 cents from each one sold through the end of Tuesday will go to the Radiothon.
As well, 10 cents from the sale of every hot beverage at Tim Hortons through the end of April (also today!) will also be donated to “Airwave for Health.”
And Legacy Co-op will also be accepting donations to the Airwaves for Health Radiothon from now through April 30th. The Legacy Co-op is selling “Helping Hearts” for $2, $5, or $10 at any Legacy Co-op Food Store or C-store, and Legacy Co-op will match your purchase!
