Another court appearance has been made by a Sioux Valley Dakota Nation man, charged with First Degree Murder.

21-year-old Ernest Blacksmith is now scheduled to stand trial in Brandon Court of King’s Bench next May.

In November of 2022, Virden RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a home on the Sioux Valley Dakota Nation.

They found a 30-year-old woman with serious injuries, and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
