A Hamilton, Ontario man arrested following a traffic stop on Highway 1 east of Indian Head, that resulted in a significant seizure of illegal cigarettes, was back in court Friday.
35-year-old Sargon Jahn is committed to stand trial in Regina Court of King’s Bench, and he’ll make another pretrial appearance on June 21.
In January, the charges against his co-accused, 36-year-old Berj Antraneek, were stayed by the Crown Prosecutor.
In November of 2022, Saskatchewan Highway Patrol officers pulled over a semi unit, and a search turned up 18 pallets, each containing 30 boxes of unstamped tobacco.
Ultimately, officers seized about 5.4 million cigarettes, and over 13-hundred kilograms of shisha tobacco.
