“Trevor Harris always gives you a chance”-Darian Durant

The Saskatchewan Roughriders remain undefeated after beating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Sunday 33-30 with a walk-off field goal by Brett Lauther.

Riders’ quarterback Trevor Harris had a stellar game, and that did not surprise Darian Durant, who spoke about him on Monday’s edition of the SportsCage.

“That’s Trevor,” Durant said to host Barney Shynkaruk. “He’s not gonna hurt you with silly turnovers and he’s always gonna give you a chance.”

Harris finished the game against the Tiger-Cats with 390 passing yards and threw two touchdowns.

Harris currently leads the CFL in passing yards with 695 and in touchdowns with five.

Besides Durant’s praise for Harris, he gave the Roughriders and head coach Corey Mace their flowers.

“One thing you can see about this team is there’s no quit in them,” explained Durant. “They’re gonna fight until there’s zeros on the clock.”

Durant elaborated further about the Head coach, Mace, and his team.

“That’s just a true testament to head coach Corey Mace, his beliefs, and the players believing in his system,” Durant details. “You can definitely see the trickle-down effect of coaching and how it can impact the team as far as how they believe and where they are in every game.”

Recently, Durant received a big honour: He, along with former Roughrider General Manager Roy Shivers and former Rider Steve Molnar, will be inducted into their Plaza of Honour.

According to Durant, CEO Craig Reynolds gave him the call, and he had a chat with former Rider Executive Jim Hopson on the subject, who passed away in April from cancer.

When pressed with information on how Durant felt about this achievement, he was grateful in his response.

“It’s the ultimate reward for all the grinding and everything that I’ve been through in my career.”

According to the Riders website, Durant, Shivers, and Molnar will be enshrined into the Plaza of Honour during a halftime ceremony when the Riders face off against the B.C Lions on October 12th.
