A new court date has been set for a Cote First nation man, charged with Second Degree Murder in the death of a toddler.

RCMP say the accused was known to the victim, 21-month-old Lorenzo Cote.

In November of 2020, emergency crews were called to a Canora residence on a report of a toddler needing urgent medical care, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

26-year-old Waylon Severight was in Yorkton Court of King’s Bench on Friday, where he was remanded in custody to October 25.
