How do you balance your time? Between both partners working full time jobs (if not two jobs each), kids in at least a couple of activities each (if not more!), house cleaning, feeding everyone, there aren’t enough hours in the day! I’ve never said this in my life, that there aren’t enough hours in the day for work (which I LOVE my job, I am very lucky that way) but I never seem to have enough time to get everything done.
Then the end of the work day comes, get the kids to their activities, home, feed them, and fall into bed utterly exhausted. That’s my day. How about yours? That being said, I don’t live on a farm, that is another level, and I am in awe of all farm families!
Has it always been this busy or are we going at a pace that is new for parents. This is what the internet told me:
“In today’s hyper-connected world, the pace of life for parents seems to have accelerated to what feels like light speed. The question on many minds: has life always been this fast, or is the current pace unprecedented? To some extent, each generation of parents has faced its own set of challenges and time pressures. However, the digital age has introduced a relentless stream of information, activities, and expectations that previous generations did not encounter at such a scale. With technology at our fingertips, parents are juggling work, social commitments, and family responsibilities, often simultaneously. The societal pressure to maintain a perfect image on social media only adds to the frenetic pace, as parents often feel the need to curate their lives for public consumption. The age of our children undeniably plays a role in how we perceive time’s passage. Young children require constant attention, which naturally makes life feel more hectic. Yet, even as children grow older, their schedules fill with extracurricular activities, academic demands, and social engagements, keeping parents on their toes. Looking forward, the pace might not slow down.”
Well, that’s not comforting. I actually read another article saying that compared to parenting 50 years ago, our generation spends more time with their kids, and we are actively trying to fix all of our problems so we don’t pass them on to our kids. It’s a lot of work!
