A proposed 25% tariff on Canadian goods by U.S. President Donald Trump will not take effect tomorrow.
Following a meeting between Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and President Trump, a 30-day pause was granted after Canada committed to strengthening border security.
Trudeau announced on social media that Canada will implement a $1.3 billion border plan, which includes deploying new helicopters, enhancing technology, increasing personnel, and improving coordination with American partners to curb the flow of fentanyl.
This decision follows a similar 30-day reprieve recently granted to Mexico.
