Hey friends! So, I recently had a lightbulb moment. I’ve seen tons of photos of Marilyn Monroe and heard all about her, but I’ve never actually watched one of her movies! Can you believe it? I decided to change that and randomly picked Some Like It Hot as my first foray into her films.
At first, I was a bit surprised to see it was in black and white. I mean, it was made in 1959! But honestly, it added to the movie’s charm, especially since it’s set in the 1930s. The story is all about two musicians who, after witnessing a crime, disguise themselves as women to escape the mob. Sounds wild, right? But it totally works!
One thing that did bug me a bit was how Joe sometimes treated Jerry. These two guys are supposed to be the best of friends, but Joe is constantly taking advantage of Jerry. Friends should definitely be kinder to each other than that.
As for the ending, it’s a masterpiece in its own right! Surprising, delightful, and utterly unforgettable. No spoilers here, but trust me, it’s not what you might expect.
Marilyn was more of a supporting character in this one, but she definitely left an impression. Now I’m on a mission to watch more of her films. If you haven’t seen Some Like It Hot yet, give it a go! It’s a fun 50s flick that’s worth every minute.
