So grain of salt with all of this of course but it does get you thinking about the best movie of all time. I totally agree with The Wizard of Oz, I watched that so many times growing up, but I was a huge Judy Garland fan. I grew up watching all of the classics. If it was a musical, or made in the 50’s or 60’s I watched it. Sadly those movies do not stand up to the test of time now.
Calamity Jane (1953) and Auntie Mame (1958) two of my favourites, are incredibly racist and sexiest. But I know all the words to every song from them. Luckily Wizard of Oz … I think stands up, I think.

The Lion King (1994) was pretty epic when it came out. I was eight years old and I still remember first seeing it, that opening, you’re singing the song in your head right now, I know you are. Spine tingling! I haven’t watched the remakes yet. I know, I’m the only one, but I can’t bring myself to. There’s something about an original.

And I will never forget the line up outside the theatre every single night when Titanic (1997) came to town. My friend went and saw the movie like 4 times when it was in Yorkton. I had to beg and beg my mom to let me go see it. I was 11, and I couldn’t be the only one on the planet who doesn’t get to see TITANIC! Come on Mom! She finally gave in and let me go with my big sister. I will never for get coming home, my mom opening the door and saying, “See I knew you shouldn’t have watched it!” I was bawling!!! Movies hit me pretty hard as a kid. Heck, they still do.
I think this list for me has been more of a stroll down memory lane than anything. Thanks for coming along for the ride. I wonder if Olivia’s first run with old movies was the Marylin Monroe one she blogged about the other day? Man I could give her a list! -Tonya Cherry-
