A Weekend to Remember: Reconnecting with My Childhood Friend

This long weekend was truly special! My childhood friend, whom I haven’t seen in over 6 years, came to visit with her kids. It was a big deal, not just for us, but for my kids, too. Her’s are 11 and 9, mine 7 and 4, so of course the littles were super excited to have “big” friends to play with. This lead to more giggles, silliness, and yes, a tad more bickering than usual with my kids.

Watching them reminded me so much of my sister and me when we were young. It sparked another wave of appreciation for my mom.

At one point, I texted my friend, “Well, you’re getting to see the real me this weekend! The kids are fighting non-stop, my anxiety is through the roof, and my patience is at an all-time low.” Her sweet and supportive reply was exactly what I needed to hear.

Later that evening, after a trip to the mall, she surprised me with this mug.

But wait for it. Not only did it say “Best Mom Ever” when you looked inside it said this!

I cried.
