Residents of the City of Yorkton will see an increase in their property taxes following the approval of the 2025/26 Capital and Operating Budgets.
At last night’s meeting, City Council approved a 3.9% tax increase, with the Operating Budget holding at 2.06% and the Capital Budget rising to 1.84%, up from 1.0% last year.
The budget was initially presented at the February 6th Council meeting and made available for public feedback the following day.
The projects the city hopes to tackle is improved road work, water main replacement, and some sewer work.
In addition to the approved budget, three new city positions have been introduced: a Communications Coordinator, an Accountant in Finance, and a part-time Bylaw Enforcement Officer.
