Continuing with my movie journey, I found myself diving into the world of the 1999 Best Picture Oscar winner, Shakespeare In Love. Here’s my take!
While it was an interesting watch, and despite its many awards, I’m not sure I was the film’s target audience. If you have more than a basic knowledge of Shakespeare, you’ll probably catch references that flew over my head. But hey, the performances were on point! Seeing Colin Firth in a villainous role was fun, I feel like he never plays the bad guy. I definitely got the heebie-jeebies from his character, Lord Wessex!
The costumes and acting were absolutely top-notch, capturing the feel of the era perfectly. However, for me, it’s not one I’d watch again anytime soon. But if you’re a Shakespeare buff or love movies set in that time period, give it a go. You might just fall in love with it!
