Yorkton Council received a report on March 3 highlighting the importance of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, observed annually on March 21.
The presentation emphasized the significance of anti-racism efforts and the need for continued work toward equity and inclusion. The day commemorates the 1960 Sharpeville massacre in South Africa and has been recognized by the United Nations since 1966.
This year’s theme, “Rise Against Racism,” encourages community members to share messages promoting diversity and inclusion.
