The Government of Saskatchewan is removing the provincial sales tax (PST) exemption on vapour products, effective June 1, 2025. A six per cent PST will be added on top of the existing vapour products tax, a move expected to generate $3 million in annual revenue.
Announced in the 2025-26 Budget, the policy aims to reduce nicotine use, particularly among youth, due to its harmful effects on brain development and addiction risks. Health advocates support the measure as a step toward promoting public health.
