The Manitoba Government is putting more money into the fight against Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS).
As part of Invasive Species Awareness Week in Manitoba, Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes announced Wednesday that the province is investing an additional $540-thousand to aid in the battle.
This includes $410-thousand for the new Manitoba Aquatic Invasive Species prevention fund, which will distribute AIS prevention resources to partners across the province, including municipal and Indigenous governments, non-government organizations and water-user groups.
The province is also putting $130-thousand toward equipment to prevent and mitigate AIS across Manitoba.
