The Yorkton Navy League Cadets organized a weekend trade show at York Lake to raise funds for new uniforms and boathouse maintenance.
About 15 vendors offered crafts, beauty items, home essentials and baked goods.
A highlight of the event was a “Save or Shave” fundraiser aimed at determining whether Commanding Officer Nikita Horvey would keep or cut off their hair. Early contributions heavily favored shaving—$212 versus $10—boosting spirits and drawing a crowd.
Proceeds from the trade show and the hair-raising challenge will go toward purchasing new cadet uniforms. The youth-focused Navy League program, for ages 9 to 12, emphasizes naval and maritime history alongside sailing and canoeing activities.
The cadets’ annual ceremonial review is scheduled for May 5, and new members can learn more via the Yorkton Navy League Facebook page.
