Hey there, fellow baking enthusiast! So, I had a fun bake recently that all started with a classic Friends episode. Remember when Monica and Phoebe were on a mission to crack Phoebe’s grandmother’s secret chocolate chip cookie recipe, only to find out it was the one from the back of the Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chips package?
That got me wondering…how many of us actually pay attention to the recipes printed on our everyday staples? Whether it’s your cereal box, peanut butter jar, or bag of flour, these recipes are everywhere. But do they really work?
Curiosity got the best of me, so I decided to try the chocolate chip cookie recipe on Bob’s 1-to-1 Baking Flour bag. Inspired by my Friends binge, as I was already craving cookies. And let me tell you, these cookies were a game-changer! They were soft and chewy on the inside with just the right amount of crunch on the outside. Dare I say, even better than the classic Tollhouse cookies!
I couldn’t keep the deliciousness all to myself, so I brought some into the station. They were gone in no time! Proof that trying out these packaging recipes can lead to some seriously tasty results!
Of course, I’m going to share the recipe with you too!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/4 cups Bob’s Red Mill 1-to-1 Baking Flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Mix flour, baking soda and salt in a small bowl. Set aside. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla extract in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add flour mixture and beat until well blended. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if desired).
Roll dough into balls, about 2 tablespoons each. Place 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets. Bake for 11-13 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 5 minutes. Move to wire rack to cool completely. Makes 36 cookies.
